PART 38

Just as Geet reached home from parlor her phone buzzed. It was none other than Dev-il. She gritted her teeth-good mood spoiled-and disconnected the call. A minute later the phone buzzed again this time signaling a message. “Meet me at Shalimar Hotel-Room no. 251 in 15 minutes. Don’t come and your lovely photographs with all your history would be emailed to all news channels. See ya :)”

Anger coursed through her. Hadn’t she made it clear that she wanted to do nothing with him? She very well knew Dev could do anything, so she decided to go. She would end it today once and for all.

Geet hailed a taxi instead of taking car. She didn’t want to leave trail for Maan to know where she was going and whom she was meeting.

Hotel Shalimar was one of the top five stars in a posh area of the city. She walked across the lobby, heels click-clacking, looking straight ahead n not meeting anyone’s eyes. Many staff members used to know her at these hotels, last thing she wanted was to be recognized by one of them.

Only the idea of seeing Dev made her sick. Bracing herself, she knocked on the door with the number 251. The door opened and Dev pulled her inside harshly. What-

He cut her off. You married him.

The floor slipped from beneath her feet. How did he know? Did Nikita tell him? Geet had never seen them together. Was it Dadimaa?

Wondering how I know? I make it a point to know everything about my brother. You didn’t tell me, why? Where’s my party? He asked sweetly but his face was anything but sweet.

What do you want? Geet spat jerking her hand free from his painful grip. If you think I am going to do your bidding anymore, you are utterly wrong. I am not going to be your spawn, get this straight.

Ooo… calm down tigress. What a bad host I am, didn’t even ask if you would like something to drink. He sauntered towards the bar in the living room. Wine?

Geet hated his attitude. No thanks. She said, barely controlling her anger.

Alright. He shrugged n poured himself some wine taking his sweet time drinking it. How did you do it, manage to finally… lure Maan, so much so that he married you? I mean have you ever heard a billionair businessman marrying a whore outside of stories? Nobody is such a fool. I always knew my big brother was special. Dev’s words stung but Geet didn’t show it on her face. She kept a leash on her emotions lest Dev found an opening to manipulate. You are extremely sexy, I must give you that. Any man would lose his mind. He walked towards her and traced the back of his fingers down her cheek to the top of her breasts. Hair rose on her skin from disgust. But she didn’t move back, didn’t cower under his intimidating self. 

We could be a team you know. I can show you a far better time than him. He nuzzled her hair suggestively. Now that you are his wife you are closer to Maan than ever before. We could get rid of him together and then everything will be ours.

Geet had an insane urge to laugh and she did. Even though she knew it was a grave mistake but she couldn’t help herself. How so desperate of you. It must be tough, right? Planning and plotting all the time, trying to surpass your older and always failing. Maan doesn’t even try and still he always wins. You think you can be better than him at anything? Really? Do you know what you are, you are a child, a wimpy little child who wants what his brother has and doesn’t know that he could never get it because at the end of day he would always be just that… a child.

Geet was aware she had hit a nerve. Good, she wanted to hurt him so bad and if she couldn’t do it physically she would go for the emotional scars. For a moment Dev stood there, the glass tightly clutched in hand and face contorted in anger. Then he smiled, strolling back and keeping the empty glass on counter. Where is this coming from? I wonder why you wouldn’t help me. Let me guess. His eyes glinted with something so evil it made her feel instantly vulnerable. You have fallen for him. He chuckled like it was so funny. Whores are capable of that?

Oh, we are capable of many things? She tried to play nonchalant, although her heart was beating fast. Stop beating around the bush, tell me what is it that you really want and give me the pleasure of denying it.

Dev’s clock was stuck on the love hour. And the fool loves you back. It sounds like a damn fairy tale. So you wouldn’t help me. His face hardened. You were right I want what Maan has. Since childhood he was given everything, because he was the born from the first wife whereas I was nothing. I had to live off on his scarps. Everyone said he was better. Do you know how difficult it is to hear that constantly, hanging above your head like a sword and then actually doing a thing? I had decided then only that I would ruin him, take everything that has been given to him so easily because its mine. You are no use to me, and the idiot loves you then let my conquest began with you.

His stood too close, Geet for the first time realized how big he was, almost as big as Maan. His breath fell on her face, reeking of alcohol n lust. Bile rose in her throat and this time she took a step back. Dev cornered her against the table, held her by the shoulders n tried to kiss her. She wiggled her face and his lips landed on her cheek. When she pushed him back he came back with double force. Dev pushed her face down on the table, fisting her hair, her nose was pressed against the top. She bit back a whimper. He pressed his weight on her n pushed a hand under her breast. She felt him sigh as his other hand left her hair and moved down to her hips, attempting to push the pants down. Geet turned her face, took in a lungful of air and elbowed him in gut. She saw only the door moving towards it but Dev was faster, he blocked her path.

Bitch! You want it rough? I will give you rough. He slapped her hard and carried her over his shoulder to the adjoining bedroom. She was thrown on the bed like a rag doll n he twisted her leg. Geet screamed from pain. Scream, it’s really a nice sound. Turns me on. Thinking that the fight in her was dead, he merrily crawled upon her. Dev's weight on her body was revolting. She closed her eyes, her head buzzing n ears ringing. She let him pin her hands down on the bed and opened her eyes. For few seconds she encountered only darkness but her vision reappeared n when Dev had his guards down she kneed him. He doubled over holding his member and she punched him in the face. Running out, she bolted the bedroom door from outside, took her purse, wiped the tears n was out into the corridor in no time leaving the banging and profanities behind.

The seconds where she waited for the elevator to arrive were the longest of her life. She got into it and as the elevator descended and distanced increased between her and Dev, her relief grew.

Are you alright, Ma’am? The elevator attendant asked.

Yes. She told, getting out of the elevator and hotel before the elevator doors even closed completely. The attendant and people in lobby gave weird looks but soon forgot the woman who hastily limped out the hotel doors.
