We’ve to go a party at seven thirty. Wait for me in the bedroom n don’t wear anything. Maan texted Geet while she was watching 'UP' with Manan. His weird request about her not wearing anything made her red. Why would he want that if they had to go to a party? Nobody could guess what Maan was planning; he always came up with something unexpected.

Maan came home at quarter to seven n when he entered the room Geet was stark naked. He gulped now regretting his choice of words. Geet, I didn’t mean that you have to sit naked for me.

But you said don’t wear anything. She replied innocently furrowing her brows.

Maan closed his eyes. I wanted you to not wear anything for party, because I bought something for you.

What? She asked excitedly walking towards him.

Maan turned around. If she stayed naked in his vicinity for another minute he would explode and they wouldn’t be leaving the house before nine, or ten. That didn’t sound like a bad idea. No, Maan! Control.

Geet pouted n entered the walk-in closet. When she came out, she was in undergarments.

Better. Maan stated pulling out box from the bag. Geet knew what was there in it before he opened the box.

No, Maan, not one of those. Surely there was a gorgeous white saree inside the box with matching blouse n skirt. He had even brought her matching sandals n accessories. It almost felt wrong denying him. Almost.

Geet couldn’t handle a saree. Last time she had ended up with a bump on her forehead. I am not wearing it. I will make a fool of myself and you in front of everyone.

No, you won’t. I will be there with you. I won’t let you fall, I swear.

I don’t even know how to wear it properly.

I know.

Wha- He cut her off and made her wear the in-skirt and blouse. Then he picked the saree and his hands were magic. He wrapped it expertly around her waist, placed the perfectly folded pallu on her shoulder and completed the handiwork with flawless pleats.

Geet walked and the saree didn’t falter her steps. It was tied the right height. Not too high, not too low. Oh. My. God. How did you do that?

Maan raised his collar. Learned it on internet.

Just like that? You saw it in video or something and learned. This is so perfect, what would you practice on? Geet asked amazed. How could Maan do it when she couldn’t after so much of headache?

Maan cleared his throat, his cheeks getting red. I practiced on myself.

What? Geet laughed then her eyes brimmed with tears. God, she was becoming so senti these days. For me?

Who else? I didn’t want you giving up on something that you liked at first.

She hugged him. Thank you.

Maan got ready too and Geet did her makeup. In the living room, Manan was watching TV and Nikita was there with him. Nina was preparing dinner in the kitchen.

What are you guys watching? Maan asked horrified, seeing semi-naked ladies parading on ramp.

Fashion TV. Nikita said. Manan has to know what his aunt does for living. You see all those dresses, baby. They are made by designers like me. Although mine are far better.

It’s boring. Manan said making a face.

Nikita’s mouth hung open at Manan’s response.

Damn, Niki, you’ll ruin my kid. Maan switched off the TV.

Language, Maan. Nikita smirked.

While Nikita and Maan fought, Manan asked Geet if he could go with them to the party.

The parties your father goes to are boring. There are no games or anything. I hate them really. How about you stay with Niks aunty tonight and tomorrow we’ll take you out.

Manan eyes glowed at that. Yes. That cool.

Now give me a kiss. Geet forwarded her cheek.

Manan turned beetroot red. Noooo.

Yessss. Please.

Manan gave her quick, shy peck that went straight to her heart. She kissed his cheek n they left.

Geet truly hated Maan’s business parties but also knew Maan hated them just as much, so she was accompanied him whenever he asked. Now she stood alone, thankfully. She had discreetly excused herself from the crowd that surrounded and went to her usual place, at the bar- only good thing about these parties. But she was planning on drinking much. She was a mother now.

Fortunately, Deepika hadn’t graced the event with her presence. Geet wondered if that had something to do with what had happened in Maan’s cabin. Perhaps, she knew Maan would come with her and so Deepika had skipped the party. The thought was delightful.

Just another five minutes, Geet started to feel bored and lonely. If Shaan was here he would’ve kept her entertained. The thought of him made her chest tighten. After coming back from Croatia, Geet had tried his number but he never received her calls. She didn’t dare text him with a sorry because he didn’t deserve a tiny sorry in text for she had used him in the worst manner. She looked around the room for him and found him at one the table talking to an elderly couple, laughing at something the lady was saying. Geet started towards him and their eyes met.

A waiter passed and Shaan wasn’t at his place anymore. She found him going out and followed.

Leaving party so soon?

He kept walking. Not your concern.

Geet flinched at his harsh tone. God, she had hurt him so bad. His face once he realized she had kissed him to show Maan wouldn’t leave her mind. She had to apologize not for herself but for him.

Shaan, I want to say sorry.

And that is supposed to make everything alright. I helped you at your worst and what did you do to me?

I know. I know I fucked up. But I didn’t want to hurt you. I don’t have many friends. Hell, I have only two friends n one of them Maan’s sister. You are special to me. I had no choice. I wanted Maan to leave me, because I wasn’t good for him n so I did what I did. Believe me, I regret it. I am sorry.

It was nasty thing to do. For a second I thought- leave it. Now don’t cry on me. He said punching her shoulder lightly. Geet smiled, a load getting off her chest. I wasn’t going to. She hugged him. Thanks. Thanks a lot. You are very kind.

Crap. Girl have called me many things but not kind, doesn’t go with the image, babes.

Geet rolled her eyes inwardly happy to see old Shaan back. Before she could give him a witty retort, Shaan was pushed away from her n punched in the face. Geet gasped looking at Maan who threw Shaan against the wall, keeping his hand lodged at Shaan’s neck. I told you stay away from her, didn’t I?

Get off me. Shaan warned.

Let him go. Geet pushed at Maan but he wouldn’t budge. You stay out of this. Maan glared at Geet. For a moment Geet was scared seeing the fury in Maan’s eyes but people had started to gather to see what all the commotion was about. If I ever see you again around my Geet, talking to her or even looking at her, I won't leave you like I am tonight.

He let go of Shaan n grabbed Geet. People parted to make way as they walked out.
