KHUMAARI
The Nocturnal Beast

Thanks for so many wishes... I am a bit late but happy new year to all sweetiesStar. Here is a super duper big update just for uBig smile EnjoyWink

Part 14
Possession

NOTE: No color coding that's time taking wid the length of updates

Hidden from human eyes, in the eastern jungles, the brightness shinned. Amid darkness, the Den twinkled with the glow of celebration, its insides warm and alive with exhilaration.

Weres filtered in and out of the grand hall. Banquets of delicious food presented on oversized tables. Laughs n talks flowed between adults while little children ran here n there with yummy feasts in hands. Lights were practically blinding n chaos all around overwhelming.

You look positively dazed. Avinaya said to his brother's mate.

Geet looked at the guy, who though dressed casually, had nothing casual about him. He was tall with short curly hairs falling on his forehead. The face was magnetic and he held the same air as Maan yet he smiled much often. Youngest of the three brothers, to Geet, he seemed a bit less of a threatening force. For some reason Garv had maintained his distance from her when she wasn't the one who had scared the shit out him the other night.

Maan, on other hand, was on some kind of red alert. No matter where he was-either talking to someone or just standing in corner-his eyes remained on her, glued n unwavering. As if he was just waiting for someone to pounce on her so that he could get some action.

It's too much for me. Geet told honestly. My family was very reserved and they didn't call the entire town for dinners.

Avinaya grinned. It's your welcome party and whatever we do is grand. Also, family is not only the people you live with under the same roof; it includes all those you care for. You'll get used to it.

Accordingly, she had been introduced to umpteen people, few were excited to meet her as if she had suddenly exchanged her body with some movie star and few were distant, afraid. She was afraid too. Geet tried to hide the fear but it was in the stiffness of her shoulders, in the rapid beats of her heart and in her scent.

Was that the reason why Maan was so uncomfortable? She met his gaze across the distance. He didn't blink n stared right at her, like he could scan her feelings, see inside her mind n was assuring he was there.

Looking back at Avinaya, she noticed their eyes were same, just Maan's were more intense, blackness swirled in them ready to pull n drown.
Everyone here is werewolf?

Yes, save for you. Everyone belongs to our clan. Outsiders are not allowed.

'Humans' were not allowed. Geet picked up the hidden meaning.

You are unusual. Avinaya commented all of a sudden.

I am? And how is that?

They like you. I mean, pack members even the children. They are not used to having a human on land but it's amazing how you gelled in. Maybe it's your smile. Avinaya cocked his head, genuine confusion marring his face. Geet blushed. Also amazing is seeing my brother like that. You know, Maan never reveals his emotions. And now look at him you have him on his toes. He almost looks constipated.

Geet laughed n saw Maan mouthing something to which Avinaya smiled teasingly. What did he say?

He said he can hear me, like I am not aware.

The air shifted n Geet felt its thickness tangible on her skin. People around froze on their spots parting to give way to Vidhuat. Maan was already before her, shielding her partly with his frame. When she looked around, his entire family had come close, surrounding her. Oddly she felt secure but feared a fight; it was on everyone's face. Her fear was proven wrong when the bulky head of protector troop fell on his knees before Maan.

I want to apologize for what I did with your mate. It was an insult of you, your mate and the entire royalty whom I have vowed to protect and serve with all my blood in veins. Maan's tense muscles loosened n he stepped back. Now Geet stood in front and that giant man was at her feet.

Shit, what am I supposed to do? Geet thought and felt embarrassed. But then she thought about the big guy, who was on floor in front of his own people for a mistake which was more instinct than intension. It's okay. Actually I was at fault for running like a lunatic. Anyone would get scared. I... I don't mean that you would get scared by me. She laughed awkwardly. It's absolutely fine.

No. It isn't. Vidhuat said. I am ready to bear any punishment.

Okaaay. Geet muttered, what was the purpose of apology when he already held himself guilty? All these people were mad. Listen, I don't really have any grudge against you, if you ask me. But for redemption from your guilt trip, you can go jump in a well or whatever.

Few eyes widened n Maan clearly was holding back a grin. What? Did I say something wrong?

You can stand up, Vidhuat. Clearly, Geet has forgiven you. Maan's father told reassuringly.

Thankfully, Vidhuat stood up n bowed his head. I am grateful. This wouldn't happen again. I'll protect you with my life n see you no different than my own clan members.

kay. Geet said with a smile, finding it weird and yet the honesty and sincerity in the big man's words n face was endearing.

Now where did he go? Geet wondered anxiously padding along the corridor carefully making her way wishing that she was going in right direction. Upon reaching their-ahem, Maan's room-she heard shower running in bathroom. Getting me all worried, Mr. Khurana is enjoying bath here. Did you see baby? How much of a beast he is.

Cotton-who had followed her out of the party-trotted towards his mumma, dotingly rubbing his furry head against her leg. Geet's heart melted. After like a century she felt the sweet tingle of warmth spreading its wings and enveloping her. Cotton was her connection with what she was n she wouldn't let go of her identity. Until she had him she had herself. He was her best friend, companion of bad as well as good times, and for all the love he showered on her he demanded just one thing... Food.

Geet laughed n Cotton cocked his head. I love you, baby.

A door banged piercingly n she turned to see Maan who had made his way out of the bathroom. His eyes flaring. Distracted as Geet was, she didn't notice his storming temper. Her hazels couldn't stop their scrutiny digressing over his bulky biceps, lusciously hard chest n smooth, segregated abs. A trouser hid his elegant, sturdy legs and- Geet yanked her mind away from the crazy thoughts. Why did you leave?

Because I knew you would follow me.

I didn't come following you. She claimed defensively. Cotton... doesn't like parties.

Cotton titled his head n was like, do I?'

At sight of the filthy animal, Maan growled viciously. Letting out a frightened squeal, the small thing scrambled to hide under table. Geet's jaw hung open.

You are such an animal, getting off by scaring a poor being.

Maan smirked satisfied. I am animal?  That evil piece of shit is trailing behind you since morning n you are behaving as if he is some f**king-

OH GOD. Geet couldn't believe her very own eyes. Mr. Stone-cold was affected by a dog. His burning eyes, clutched jaw n slightly red cheeks were unmistakable. You are jealous. The Maan Singh Khurana is jealous of a mere dog.

Maan knotted his brow at her dramatics. I am not jealous and that too of that shit.

Don't call him shit.

What will you do?

They were chest-to-chest, challenging each other while rapid air coming out of their mouths mingled. I will kick your ass.

How about kissing my ass? He suggested giving a lopsided smile.

Her heart flipped. You are such a jerk. She pushed at his chest as hard as she could but he shackled her wrists.

Just for you.

He pulled her closer, soft breasts flattening against bare heat. A rumble echoed in him, gray clouds collecting n storming. He couldn't wait. She was so delicious, in his arms, in his room. He wanted to be inside her, push hard. She would moan his name. Beg him for what only he could provide. We will go to bed now. His whisper was hot seduction flowing through her veins like searing lava.

I am going to change.

Maan let her pull back. You should. Maybe get more respectful.

I was talking about clothes.

What's the need of clothes?

Oh, shut up.

After altering the blue dress-Niyati had gifted, requesting she wear it for the dinner-with shorts n a Tee, Geet came out. Where is my chicklie-boo?

Roasted n digested.

She snickered. Are you going to sleep naked?

I have trousers on but if you want. Maan started to get up from the bed.

No. Just... stay where you are. Where did Cotton go?

Just stay where you are. Maan repeated her words, restraining her from opening the bedroom door n going out. I didn't bite you pup. He must be somewhere; I just made him leave the room.

I wonder what means you would have used. Geet glared at him. He sleeps with me.

And now you sleep with me. I am not going to argue over it. Come to bed.

Unexpectedly she obeyed. In fact, she hopped on bed so excitedly that Maan couldn't have imagined such reaction to his said order in wildest of his dreams.

So you are werewolf? How comic it sounds. Maan rolled his eyes, he should have guessed. Are your brothers same?

Geet knew the answer but asked anyways.

Obviously. Maan said threading his fingers in her hairs, combing the soft tendrils. All windows and doors were closed. Her rousing scent filled the room. Maan took longs breaths so that in form of air she went deep into him, pervading him just like the space around him.

And your parents? Your father is one for sure but your mother?

Everyone from our clan is werewolf, Geet.

Oh. How does it happen? I mean how you guys swap. Is it voluntary or automatic?

Maan was making little circles on her thigh over the cloth that sheltered her skin. Geet didn't notice. Her whole body was abuzz with excitement; there were so many queries in her mind, questions that produced with each answer. A whole world hidden from human eyes, how oblivious could her kind be?

I will only answer your question if would answer mine.

What you want to know about me?

There are many things. Do you agree?

Yeah. Okay.

It's voluntary. Although emotions do affect our both sides, the wolf tries to push out when there is a threat or something but the final decision is mostly ours.

Does it hurt?

Maan shook his finger. My chance babes. What are you wearing under the Tee. A vest, bra or nothing?

Blood rushed to her face. Here she was thinking he was being thoughtful and genuinely wanted to know about her.

What are you thinking? Do you want answers or not?

B-ra.

With her short breathless answer Maan's dark gaze slid to the swell of her breasts. She wanted to hide herself but knew what that would result in. Provoke him. He loved the thrill of chase.

Are you being honest? Maan raised his head n kissed under her jaw. Closing her eyes she tried to fight off the wild reaction of her body. It stirred madly wanting to lean in close to him, lose itself in him. Like he owned her n she needed to know that in the most innate and extreme manner.

Yes. Now answer my question. Does it hurt?

No. It's the feeling of libration n excitement. The ultimate union of our wolf form with human intellect. It's like drinking your favorite brand of bear, being free in the wilderness, running in full speed racing with the wind or like jumping off a cliff and feel that nervous excitement n anticipation mid-air before landing in icy water that completely rattles your bones.

Geet nodded keenly observing his expression. You really love being you, dont you?

Yes. And that becomes two questions. What color are you panties?

Pink.

Baby pink or lavender?

Cherry pink. She answered, slight tease in her voice. Why was she even answering such impudent questions? Yes, she wanted answers but was she that desperate. Geet would never admit but she liked to play... with him.

Can I see?

NO. My turn. Do you have any superpowers like can you close the lights with your eyes or make that glass fly?

'Am not a comic book character. Though I can touch you with my eyes. Do I make you hot?

No.

Liar. I won't be honest if you wouldn't.

You can't shake off truth as lie if you don't like it.

You are forgetting I can smell your lie.

Damn. A bit.

Liar. He looped an arm around her waist n smirked wolfishly when she shifted uncomfortably. If I doesn't make you hot why you get affected. He placed his mouth on her neck. Geet tried to sit still but his mouth was so moist, sizzling, planting tiny pecks on her throat n collarbone. His lips nibbled on her earlobe sensually and that tornado of sensations started in her belly, pushing downwards. Maan pushed the collar of her Tee down her right shoulder dragging his fiery mouth across the milky length. A strange sound was heard n she realized it was her moan.

Geet pulled the sleeve up. Maan, don't.

Why-

My turn. Do you care for me?

More than anyone else. Maan had never ever in his entire existence felt such a strong need to please. The feelings were insane, alien. Not something that should be there in him. He wanted her to like him, there was this strange mind-blasting urge to impress n attract. Her approval was his motive so she would let him mate with her, take her silken virginity. Both his body n mind craved for her touch, closeness in every possible way and she had to give it all. She was his.

How can you say that? You have known your family n others all your life n you say you care for me more than them. I can't smell lie like you but I am not fool either.

Who said time's the measure? It's just marks the start and end of days, especially when you have almost an eternity to live.Maan looked into her eyes. I am not lying, can't you see in my eyes. I care for you and I want you near me. The wait hurts. Maan acknowledged, momentarily stunned to have admitted it to her.

Questions, not demands. Geet reminded firmly.

To her horror he sat up, his eyes nearly crazed n jerked her against him. His bare torso was molten wax, shaping around her, encompassing.

What are you.. doing?

I would try to be tender. Geet lost all rationality as he overtook her mind. Not just two but thousand hands must be stroking her, even the inside of her skin. She tried to breath but air was thick. Maan tilted her head back n kissed her throat feverously. She moaned fisting the hairs on his head and massaging his nape. His mouth dropped to her cleavage. Wetness swept from her core n like Maan felt the flow, he pushed her back. His form surged forward n wriggled over her in an animalistic impulse. She was torn between fear and desire, the intensity was so high her eyes watered.

His weight was too much she couldn't hold it, he would kill her, his mouth was eating on her n yet a black corner in her yearned for feel further, more than anything else, she pained for his satisfaction. Geet opened her eyes n tried to speak but-

The wait hurts. The wait hurts. The wait hurts.

Same words repeated again and again, volume increasing until she went mad. Everything else dissolved, just he remained. She arched, felt his hands sliding on the insides of her arms, his mouth was joined to hers n she was- kissing back, violently. Her nails dug n clawed on the nude skin of his back. A faint tearing sound was all she heard in background as his mouth latched on her breasts over the bra.

Time seized but they moved, magically. His body waved in sync with hers, curving in an erotic, primal dance. His shaft was rock-hard as it pressed against her n Geet bit down on his shoulder. A loud growl echoed, a step taken, some threshold crossed. Metallic taste met her tongue n she lapped at it eagerly.

Abruptly a wave of sickness slapped her hard. Frozen, she felt dead.

Geet. Maan shook her hard several times but she wasn't responding. Finally she blinked at him n he heaved a sigh. They were close. The barriers had diminished n he ached to pound in her but the connection was broken.

Yet a flood of all new emotions overwhelmed him considerably. She marked us. His wolf bounded, it couldn't be more happy.

He hugged her body. Did I hurt you?

Were you lying when you said I won't turn? Am I like you now?

No. A werewolf never lies to his mate. You won't turn. Werewolves are born n not made.

But I bit you. Her voice broke. I- felt your blood on my- in-

You marked me. Maan told fondly, his wolf on a roll. I want to bear your claim till the end of my life.

Her eyes weighted several kilos and he kissed them close.

Maan's family was abnormally normal. Geet didn't know if she made sense. She dwindled between being terrified of the unexpected n untried family merrymaking or being obliged for having what she always craved. Was it even hers?

She certainly was overwhelmed by this new surprise thrown at her. Morning had been mind shattering as Maan had claimed her mouth the second her eyes opened. Her body was propped against his n while he had tilted her face for their lips to meet; her skin had tingled with anticipation. Cold wind swept in from the now open window but his touch made her tremble. Pathetically she had held onto him for her dear life n sanity as his velvety tongue had languidly stroked the secret corners of her mouth.

On joining others for breakfast, Geet got to know that Maan's mum who happened to be the Alpha female n had some supreme powers like his husband in the clan was no less typical than any other household mother. She loved to cook n fed every soul that stepped under her roof. Her scoldings were quite terrifying yet did little to straighten the three arrogant, devious sons that she happened to be mother of. Avinaya was cool, impish and quite comfortable with Geet. Garv, contradictory to his brother, was unfathomable. His eyes trailed her every move as if she was going to do something to him. She always felt edgy around him. Thank god Niyati was there. She was a nice human being-erm, werewolf.

Her eyes were kind n she was friendly. Apart from being a horrible cook she was harmless. Geet didn't get to know Maan's dad much. He talked less like his eldest son n appeared impervious. Sitting at the head of long dining table he was more of a rock figure than a breathing body. She had met nearly whole of Maan's clan. They continued to pour in the whole day, greeting her and introducing themselves. It didn't matter that she didn't remember even ten names out of so many. And despite being subjected to hoards of people she had yet to meet Maan's grandfather, Bade papa and Badi maa. His grandfather wasn't home at the moment and Bade papa n maa had recently shifted out of the Den.

Shielding her eyes with a hand on forehead Geet looked up to see the big mansion in broad daylight. Ages were needed to cruise the interiors so she had come out to stroll the gardens. When nobody stopped her she sighed with relief. More than a casual stroll, it was the need to make sure she wasn't a prisoner and could go out without asking for permission or an escort to keep an eye on her.

A crumpling feeling of homesickness made her head pound. While Cotton chased after a colorful butterfly she had nothing else than him to embrace from the life she knew. What had happened? Would she never see her family again? And her dreams... her aim in life, her desire to prove to her town people that women were not just homemakers, her post graduation? She wasn't so selfish to just think about herself, her bothers needed her n her almighty father needed her too, what about them? Will she change with time too, just like the course of her life and forget her family, forget everything, forget what she used to be? Or her entire existence would spend in regret, envisioning of what could have been?

Almost an eternity-as Maan claimed-can she spend it with him?

Can she just be his mate and nothing else?

The word mate' was meaningless for her. Why she had to go through all this? First her mother died n she was sent to a new home. Till then she had thought her father had died n with the fear of upsetting her mother she had never asked about him n all of sudden she was at his doorstep. A mere child at a man's mercy who had abandoned not just her mother but his own child. To not again be in such a vulnerable position she had thrived to find her own footing n mid-step a werewolf, out of folklore, kidnapped her.

She hated him. She hated whatever he had snatched from her. She was so close to be free, so close to finding her own spot in world. He took it all away.

He had saved her life. So was it his ownership now?

His heat touched her before his skin. Circling her body like his possession Maan breathed over her neck, heavy pants fanning her. She was acutely aware of his pelvic seductively grinding against her back.

Thinking about me?

That voice sent jolts down her stomach as he kissed the corner of her lips. Geet moaned n saw Adi standing from her peripheral vision. Shit. She straightened pushing Maan off her.

What the f**k. Maan grumbled.

Geet was red while Adi coughed apparently torn between staying to enjoy the drama or fleeing to avoid the awkwardness. Geet was the first one to see a group of distressed people coming to them. They bowed their heads before them. A lady looked particularly anguished with fear on face n brimming tears in eyes. Geet immediately knew something was massively wrong.

She was right.

Since when he has been missing? Maan asked too calmly, his face almost serene, like everything was just perfect.

A distressed man held his mate who was on the verge of breaking down. Which was understandable as her son was missing. It's been almost 5 hours. All his pals have returned. They have no idea where he could go. He is just 12.

Garv and Avinaya jogged out of the Den. What happened? While Adi explained them the situation, Maan kept a hand on father's shoulder. I know, Druv. We will find him.

With everything that has been going on-

Maan cut him off. I can't promise you his safety but he wouldn't have gone far. Did you check in the close fields?

Yes.

Then we would check in the deeper woods. Jhanvi came out n took the missing child's mother inside. Geet observed in wonderment how orderly they operated. Everyone just knew where they were needed the most. No instruction given, no favors asked.

I will come with you to search for him. The father said n perhaps only to relieve him of the agitation, Maan nodded.

Avi, you make a team with Druv and others to search the west of jungles. I'll go with Adi in east. Avinaya on cue, took Druv with him. Maan turned to Adi. They should not know that Dad is not here. Ring Vidhuat n inform him about the kid. Ask him to alert the border guards.

Adi didn't waste another precious second n was already punching the numbers on his mobile. Vidhuat was informed n he being the head of protector troop ordered the border guards, who patrolled the clan borders 24/7, to seek the kid.

Maan... Geet called as the remaining men started to hurry off.

Don't worry I would be alright.

Of course you would be. She smacked his chest. Just make sure the child comes back.

Maan felt complete adoration for the girl before him. She was childish a minute n supremely mature n perceptive the next. He surely was in for a hell lot of surprises. We will find him. He assured. Geet relaxed visibly like he hadn't only said but done it already. Her trust on him was a force that grew with every passing flash despite her reluctance.

They began leaving n Geet told from behind. Take care of yourself, Adi.

Her attempt at easing-Maan-with-teasing backfired massively. He turned sharply n kissed her right on mouth, pulling her legs off the ground. When he positioned her back on earth she was lightheaded n before her hands could grab at his neck to strangle him, he was gone for good.

Geet puffed her cheek but a stupid smile made its way onto her lips. The ruthless beast was doing something to her. To do her bit she headed for insides, though there would be nothing she could do to relieve the mother who didn't know where her twelve year old son was in the dangers of the jungle. But a word of assurance might give her some strength.

A force almost physical hit her head hard, penetrating her skin n bones and blending with the nerves of her brain. Pain couldn't be used to describe the feeling, it was complete possession.

Plastered on her spot Geet dragged ragged breathes into her lungs. Her visions went slack, swirls dancing before her eyes. Somebody was calling, an invisible rope pulling at her as undetectable as gravity but life altering. Unknown to herself she walked to the back of Den where the thick woods were nearest. There was a light, a hidden path open just for her. She started to run, going behind the glow, trying to catch the untouchable. Her legs were not hers nor were her mind n body.

Deeper n deeper it took her while cold air pushed at her. Her vision was so terribly focused that she could see nothing apart from a twisted path, taking her past the innumerable trunks. Her body hummed a sweet tune, she didn't feel endangered, she felt united with something that was hers but taken away.

In a snap the illusion ended. She was normal again, standing in middle of the jungle, her body sweaty, breathing uneven. She was capable of seeing, her mind of thinking. Her ears heard a cry. Geet turned around to a group of wolves rounding a small boy who was huddled against a tree. The animals were so occupied in the fever of hunt that they didn't sense her.

It must be the same kid. Geet was sure as she jogged towards the circling wolves. Their eyes glowed with the promise of hunt, saliva dripping from mouth. Pitch of their collective barks was deafening. The small boy couldn't even look at them. He had his head buried between his knees. His whole form shook like a leaf in storm, ready to give up n break off. The wolves were waiting for that. They were waiting for him to make the first move so that they could pounce, tear n kill.

To distract them she threw a stone in a distance. It didn't work, in fact, all beastly eyes turned towards her. Although she got enough time to jump towards the kid. The wolves were fast after that. They jumped on her. Pain was a practically a new thing such was the intensity as it cramped the blank spaces of her rationality.

The wolves' growls were so scary she wanted to cover her ears but was afraid for the kid. Her hands were around him n she enclosed him like a sheet. Also if she moved the sting would increase. It was already too much.

One canine was thrown off her n relief washing over her was like a balm on burn. The child would be safe. Sounds of brawl didn't announce who was winning. Both Geet n child didn't dare look up either, they were clasped together lying on ground. The only thing she was aware of was that the child was shivering very hard or, was it her? She blew softly in his ear so he would feel something other than fear. He was clutching her chest so hard; his nails clawed at her skin. Maybe he was pushing her. She couldn't speak so she kept blowing. Finally the commotion faded into dubious silence.

Geet, sugar, are you okay? A wet tear fell at the corner of her eye.

Only when Geet was sure that she and the child both were risk-free that she allowed herself to go in deep slumber.

This would do. I have given her injection for rabies and dressed her wounds. The healing has already started.

With some hushed voices people were directed out of the room. Geet opened her eyes to see rows of beds beyond her, blue walls n white ceiling. She tried to sit but a firm hand kept her down.

It's alright. Maan words were so soft n melodious, they took her direct to heavens. He caressed her face, his touch a whisper of warmth.

How is the child? She asked.

Completely fine and taken home.

How did you find me?

He leaned towards her face. You summoned for me.

I did? And you knew?

We are linked. You completed the bond last night, temporary but I could hear your calling in my mind.

You fought off the wolves. Are you hurt?

Just mere cuts. Werewolves have a way with canines. It would have ended sooner but they were lured by... you two.

They thought we were food. Geet voiced, shaken up by the recollection of their teeth n claws. Surely her body hurt like hell n she couldn't move her muscles. Exactly how bad my position is?

Something flickered in Maan's eyes n he sat back. All signs of tenderness gone. Geet regretted asking the question.

How did you know the child was there? Paras-the doctor who had treated her-asked. Geet had met him at her welcome party. He was the clan's Gamma, the head medic. You just had to glance at his face to know there was treasure of knowledge in that head. He was deep in jungle. To track his exact position was impossible especially when you have never been to our land before. He could have been anywhere. How did you reach him?

I don't know. There was a light that guided me. I am not certain if it was taking me to the kid or somewhere else.

Both Maan n Paras stared at each other.

Maybe she had hit her head. Maan suggested n Geet was about to object but probably she indeed had hit her head. There was no other rational elucidation. Finding the child could be a mere coincidence or a play of fate. She believed in destiny now after every creepy n weird thing that had happened lately in her life. Maan was certainly on top of the list named worst jokes of destiny.

Without her permission Maan picked her up n if her leg hadn't refused to comply she surely would have kicked him. Alas! Another opportunity missed.

You're sure I can take her home?

Hundred and ten percent. Injuries are not that grave and with her new super power she would be good as new in a week or two.

Who changed my clothes? Geet asked once they were seated in the car. Both her hands were bandaged n so was her stomach. There were few scratch marks on her face which made talking difficult. Geet wondered if Maan changed her clothes.

Niyati. Maan was so indifferent n cold it was akin to talking to a ghost. I sent them all home because they were creating chaos.

What super power the doc was talking about?

He remained silent n when she thought no answer was coming he said. I am your super power. But for now consider me a curse.
