KHUMAARI- The Nocturnal Beast, PART 19

KHUMAARI
The Nocturnal Beast

Part 19
Revelation

The morning was cool, but not so much as to make you freeze. Summers had arrived in full swing, buds sprouting and infant leaves looking up at the sky all ready to thrive in warmer days. Strangely, everything held more colors and the wind was fresher than ever. Was the sun shining brighter? Geet smiled to herself hitting her head. Everything was same. Just, she was different and the difference in her was Maan.

Before her, Cotton was going lunatic with excitement on the leash. Lately she hadn’t been the best owner. She wasn’t taking care of her small baby as she should, not to forget the change of residence. The meager creature was bought down several hundred kilometers away from his home just like her.

As they strolled in the somewhat foggy morning, on the road that was wet, Geet suddenly felt a foreboding sense of fear. It was ever present at the back of her mind, rousing on occasions to its full degree and making her anxious. Where was this road leading to, not the one she was currently walking on but the other one that she was forced onto by the destiny? This road, of the new world, that she had no idea ended at which stop.

Be ready for the change. What kind of change had the witch been talking about? It had seemed like a warning. Was the change referred to the mating ritual that was going to be held in about a month? Mating ritual… kind of like a marriage? What the hell was she going to do?

Pondering over the chilling thoughts would have been useful if she had a way out. She wasn’t even sure if she wanted a way out as desperately as she had earlier. Perhaps not. Certainly not. Consequently so, it was futile to mull over the unknown. She tried to calm her mind taking in the fresh air. While Maan slept, it had been a good idea to come out. She needed lone time to grasp and sort everything inside her head, away from a certain male who made her thought process absolutely muddy. Geet decided that she would talk it out. She would confront Maan about the ritual and see if she could buy some time, accordingly she would plan her next set of action.

Yeah. That seemed appropriate considering the present circumstances. Pleased, she patted her back.

A kid ran past her. He halted and steered back so fast Geet thought he would fall. Cotton sniffed his feet while she recognized him immediately. He was the kid who had gotten stuck between the wolves.

Hey. He said shyly bringing a smile on Geet’s lips. I know you. You saved me that day.

No, I didn’t. It was Maan.

Cotton captured the boy’s attention better than Geet, because he sat down and patted the animal’s fluffy head who in turn blessed him with loads of licks on face. The boy giggled.

You have a really cute dog.

Yeah. He is adorable until he steals my chocolate. What’s your name?

Arth.

That’s a cool name Arth. Where are you going this early in the morning?

To school. He said as a matter of fact shrugging his shoulders to indicate the massive bag there.

Isn’t it too early for school? Geet asked. Only the animals were awake.

I go early so I can play with my friends.

Geet grinned. That makes sense. Where is your school? Shall I drop you there, you shouldn’t be going alone.

It’s not too far and I am not going… A glaring woman approached them, twisting Arth’s ear painfully. alone. He completed in a shriek.

Arth, you shouldn’t be running off like that while I am talking to someone. She scolded then turned to Geet. I am sorry he bothered you. I was caught up talking to a neighbor and he took off.

It’s okay. Just keep an eye on your little one. He seems very naughty. Geet said with a teasing smile directed towards a pouting Arth. His mother finally let go of his ear.

Yeah. You were very brave in saving my child. If not for you and Maan, he wouldn’t be here.

Geet felt embarrassed, she had already been thanked enough times. Honestly, she hadn’t actually done something too smart. Getting herself in danger in addition to the kid was more foolish than wise. All credit went to Maan, who came on time and warded off the animals.

You smell like Maan. Are you his mate? Arth asked and Geet sniffed herself self consciously.

It’s not a bad thing. His mother laughed assuring Geet. Yes. She is, Arth. And she is going to be the Alpha female someday so you should be a good boy or she would punish you. Both Arth and Geet’s eyes widened in horror.

No- Geet objected but was cut off.

This will make him behave for some time at least. She whispered with a smile. We’ll take your leave. She bowed and took her son away. Geet stared at their back until Cotton barked to pull her out of daze. She had walked a little too much; it was time to go back.

Upon reaching the Den, she walked into Garv at the entrance. He was coming from somewhere and she thought she knew where.

Did she come? Her voice stopped him.

None of you fucking business.

Hey, I was just asking. She was taken aback by the rude reply. Out of all people she hadn’t expected Garv to talk like that. His hostility was always polite.

His eyes were on fire when he turned to look into hers. She resisted the urge to recoil. I am not in a mood to be questioned. With that he all but ran from there disappearing in seconds.

She frowned. Was it wrong to expect some courtesy from the people around, he couldn’t talk to her like that. Although, when she replayed the incident, her question did sound like salt on wound. He had appeared disturbed n she had thrown ‘did she come’ on his face. Of course, the witch hadn’t come and for all she knew Grav must have gotten the impression that she was mocking him. Geet exactly wasn’t his friend or something.

Poor guy. Stupid Geet. You will never learn what to speak and when.

Coming inside feeling a bit guilty, she freed Cotton from the leash and he ran into the kitchen. She followed the eager dog. Prior to leaving she had found it necessary to let Robe know about her walk. He had been the only one awake then. Robe was now busy pulling and setting everything, getting the kitchen ready for another day. She informed him of her arrival.

Would you like to eat something?

No. I’ll have breakfast with everyone else.

Then I will just give Master Cotton something to fill his stomach. At that Cotton waggled his tail, settling down on his arse and sticking a long, wet tongue out in wait of treat.

Geet was in fits of laughter. Master Cotton. Oh, Robe you are so funny. Her words came out garbled, mixed with her lunatics laughs as she slapped Robe’s hand who was eyeing her worriedly. At his expression, she laughed harder.

Her laughs hadn’t seized when she entered the personal quarters. To her utter disappointment Maan was awake because that sexy body of his wasn’t sprawled on the rumpled bed sheets. Looking at the bed, she couldn’t believe that she slept there, with that very-male guy. There was a shuffling sound and she neared the walk-in closet which was the source of it. The closet was pretty big with honey-colored shelves and drawers. Maan’s clothes took over the entire right side while hers took little space on the left; the whole side was left empty for her nonetheless. In middle there were shoes stocked.

Inside the closet she found Maan sitting on the floor cross legged. In one hand he held a pair of very familiar panties and in other two of similarly familiar cotton bras. She was mortified to see that they were indecently close to his nose. This guy was undoubtedly insane.

What the hell are you doing? You pervert. She screeched.

He glanced up, forgetting everything and loosing himself in her presence. He was already on verge of an orgasm from taking in her strong, intoxicating scent from the shreddies while imagining her naked heat below his lips.

Hell, his lovely mate was freakin hot even in the track suit which fucking covered her up a good deal and still his body hummed with double the need and arousal. The feeble band couldn’t hold her hairs and the escaped tendrils framed the sides of her face, few short flakes dancing across her forehead. Sweat coated the little bare skin making it shine and him groan.

I was arranging your clothes, but got distracted. His voice was rough and her eyes fell to his lips, he licked them because all of a sudden they were very dry. She traced the action then blinked. Her eyes narrowed.First thing first. Give that back. She said forwarding her hand. He used it to his advantage and pulled her down. She fell over his legs clumsily with a startled yelp. His lips descended to the sensitive skin of her neck in the most natural way. I missed you.

Such intense gaze accompanied by so tender words. How did he accomplish the mixture of soft and hard, all at the same time? I was gone for less than an hour and you were sleeping. Her voice came out husky and it tugged at the organ between his legs, wrapping around it almost physically.

He growled, not angrily. Why didn’t you wake me up? Do you know how worried I was? Robe told me you had gone for a walk, I thought to follow you but if I had you wouldn’t have liked. Your freedom shit n all. He said bitterly. However, if you hadn’t come back for another ten minutes, it would have been a different story.

Her gaze softened making him aware of how clean and glossy was the white of her eyes. He never gave it enough credit, always getting stuck on the hazel orbs but they were just as mesmerizing and significant. While the hazels were deep, absorbing, the white of her eyes brought out the innocence of her.

Thank you. He vaguely registered her telling. Despite my earlier perception of you I can very well say now that you are not that bad.

That very much got his attention. That pleases you?

Yes, you- not coming after me does. You- sniffing around my undergarments surely don’t. She said glaring, not really angry though. Why were you arranging my clothes? Didn’t the help do a good job?

No. I was arranging your clothes in accordance with mine so we can wear same colors and I wanted to know what all you have and what you need. It’s my duty to get whatever you lack. But then I found your inners and you weren’t here. I was missing you. He had the girl melting, he could tell just by the look on her face.

You are mad.

For you, sugar. You look gorgeous this morning.

I look like a sweaty pig.

No you look edible like always. Where is my morning kiss?

She shyly cupped his cheek and he hadn’t expected what she said next.Just upon my lips. Her lips met his and fireworks exploded. He buried his fingers in the long tresses tilting her head back. When she opened up for him, his tongue swept inside her mouth and if she hadn’t known better she would think he was searching for something. Moaning she ran her hands over his bare chest and back. Under smooth skin, his each muscle was defined, flexing beneath her touch. He freed her so she could take in a lung full of air and then dived back in. She clutched his hairs in tight fists. His hairs had grown a bit long and he definitely needed a cut, although, she liked them long.

Maan wanted more. He inserted his hand below her polo shirt. It was hot against cold. She kept making those delicious noises inside his mouth urging him on. He thumbed her breasts through her bra and maybe she didn’t realize in all the heat because when he cupped them she stilled momentarily but relaxed the next second. He applied no pressure just kept massaging her delicate mounts softly. She was sweaty and that intensified her scent which cramped his nostrils going straight to his mind n some other unholy places. A pounding started between his legs, slow but insistent.

His wolf rolled in excitement. Perfect. Yes. Take off her clothes. It said. Rip them apart. Make her ours.

He parted to look at her face; she was uttering his name between pants and her skin was flushed. He grazed her pebbled nipple with the pad of his thumb and her eyes rolled back. The erotic picture got imprinted in his mind. Taking a deep breath he pinched her nub and she moaned, hard. He gulped pulling one hand out to brush over her parted mouth, looking into his eyes, she pulled it in between her moist pink lips rolling her tongue around it n closing her eyes savoring his taste like he was a candy. His inside snapped. With one hand he raised her up then laid her down. The floor was cold under her but his body was pure mass of substantial heat.

As he covered her, she arched her back hungrily. Panting and writhing, she was all receptive softness beneath his weight. Maan didn’t know what had gotten into her but he wasn’t going to complain. No, he would reap benefits instead. His eyes darkened; the black spreading and taking over the orbs fully. He felt the dull ache in his gums. The wolf was coming to the surface and he couldn’t stop it. He kissed her neck and she twisted her face submitting to his male desires n giving him access. He eagerly tasted her biting her at places then running his tongue over to sooth the pleasure sting. Pronouncing his name in a moan, she wrapped her lean legs around his hips pushing him into her. He kissed her chin, then her mouth.

She gave in. Entirely. It felt right. So right. Something inside her wanted to open up. To let him flood her and it wouldn’t free her until she succumbed to the command. It originated from him, creeping inside her very core and making her his slave. She couldn’t stop n she didn’t want him to either. Her body yearned n ached, weeping for him to end the torture. She was floating, in the vortex between pleasure and pain of longing- fighting for a purpose. A purpose, that was even unknown to her.

Just then something proverbial happened. Smoke and heat; filling her lungs, licking her skin. Maan was there. Yes, he was there. But he wasn’t the source of heat nor was he the receptor. She drifted, fire flicking before her lids. Smoke burned her eyes and she was suffocating.

Maan felt the shift in her body and the convulsing. First he thought she was resisting him but then his insides fluttered. He more than felt her intense withdrawal not from fear but from agony. The next moment, she began to cough. Before his eyes she started to turn pale- frighteningly pale. He pulled back, terror washing over him. What had he done? He tried to talk to her but she didn’t seem like listening. Tears streamed down her closed lids as her fragile body curled into a ball, right there on the floor, where he had pushed her savagely- taking advantage of her haze.

With a sharp hiss, the smoke pulled back. She heaved a lung full of air so fast that in the process she almost choked herself. Her eyes opened as she coughed terribly.

Are you alright? His voice cut through to her and she stared at him dazedly, the space coming back to her. Something pounded inside her head and her skin was burning like a flame.

Geet touched the wetness on her cheeks and then only her troubled eyes met his. What’s happening to me?

Pulse normal. Temperature normal. And there are no other indications that would say something is wrong.

It surely didn’t seem like normal when she was writhing on the floor. Maan almost growled while his mate sat beside him with her head hung low, she looked drained and that more than worried him. Scared the shit out of him, rather say.

Well, I can’t tell what is wrong. Her body is functioning as it should. Paras told as a matter of fact. I am going to ask you some questions, okay, Geet? She nodded. What exactly happened?

She told the doctor everything, about the smoke and fire. It feels like a dream but so much more real as if it’s coming from within me.

Has this happened before or was it the first time?

No. No, it wasn’t the first time. Something similar has happened before, once. She glanced at Maan to see a frown deepening on his flawless face. On the barstool, she straightened her back. The stool was tall for her, causing her feet to dangle above the floor in air. It happened in the car when Maan was bringing me here. I dismissed it as a hallucination or dream.

What triggers it? I mean is there something that starts it or that has been common both the times while you’ve had the… experience.

She reddened at that while the two males waited for an answer. It was… uh

We were making out today in the closet. Maan spoke and she lowered her head so her hairs would hide the deep blush.

Yeah, that day too we were, umm…

Hmm, so Maan triggers it. I think it’s the changes in your body that I had previously told you about. You body is accommodating to them and also resisting, thus you have to go through this.

Is it anything serious? Will this stop? Geet asked holding her breath.

Yes. It will stop.

Oh. Geet smiled, relived to an extent. How is Vidhuat?

Sleeping. His wounds are healing. I hope we find Chavvi soon. He is not going to stay on the bed for long. As soon as he regains his wellness, I won’t be able to hold him down with the current amount drug dose, more will kill him.

Can I… see him? Geet asked.

Yeah, Trisha is probably checking up on him. You know the way. I have something to discuss with you Maan though.

I lied to her. Paras spoke once Geet was gone. When I said it will stop.

Like a rock had been dropped upon Maan’s head, he jerked. What do you mean?

I lied to Geet because I didn’t want to scare her. I didn’t know how she would react and thought that it should be you telling her this, if you want to tell her at all. Paras took some files from his desk and started to arrange them on the shelf. Maan hated the Doc’s calmness when he was anything but. It’s originating from you. The visions that Geet is having, when you both get intimate, she could access your thoughts or a part of your brain. It is involuntary but not unusual. Mates share more than just a physical bond when coupling; they could also peek into each other’s mind.

Maan didn’t want her peeking in his mind. The thought made him sick. He didn’t want her subjected to his gruesome, dark past. It would drive her mad. She was too young, naïve and innocent to delve inside him and know his secrets, pain… and sins.

Oblivious to Maan’s musings, Paras continued. Only in Geet’s case, she doesn’t know how to control it. Being a human, I doubt she even has the ability to do so. But that is least of my worries.

There is more? Maan began to pop his knuckles and stretch his shoulders to relieve some of the tensions. It didn’t help.

I am afraid there is. You remember I asked you for Geet’s blood sample. I wanted to run a DNA test on it because I was curious although I didn’t have the equipments. So I called in for it and did the test when they arrived, I don’t think you would like what I am going to say. She has Werewolf antecedent somewhere in her lineage and that too close. Perhaps, one of the parent or an aunt or uncle. It could possibly be her grandparents too. Her lycan genes were recessive, until you came into picture and fed her your blood. And now as a result, her lycan genes are fighting for dominance with her humanity.

Maan didn’t do gasping but a strange, alien sound left his mouth which resembled a gasp. He tensely rubbed his sweaty forehead trying to keep breathing. Is she going to transform?

No. As we all know werewolves are born not turned. Paras settled on his grand white chair pulling the jug off the desk, his grip firm around the handle. Turning the lid to open the mouth, he started to pour water in a crystal glass. Humans are far weaker than us. Her body is going through severe changes, some she could endure, contain, but as it will continue, at a point her system won’t be able to cope up.

The water started to spill out of the glass as Paras continued to pour more. Soft, flowing curtain of sparkling liquid glided over the outer surface of glass, spreading across the table. Maan now knew why the Doctor had removed the flies. So-fucking-thoughtful of him but he didn’t need a damn horror flick be played to understand his mate’s impending doom, and with her his own. He gritted his teeth while Paras kept the now empty jug aside and water fell on the floor from the edges of the table.

Can’t you help her?

There is a limit to my capabilities. I am researching, Maan, and believe me I have no intensions of scaring you. I only want you to understand the gravity of situation. And the thing is she isn’t going to survive this, she is weak because of her human nature.

Maan’s fists were clenched when he straightened from his leaning position on the wall. He had thought they had all eternity at their disposal, how damn foolish of him to think that the stars would grant him any happiness.

Geet raised her head when she realized Maan was standing in the doorway. She gave him a smile, her angelic face turning back to a knocked out Vidhuat while she patted his shoulder as if to say goodbye.

Did you see Vidhuat? I can’t believe how fast he is healing. I’ll never get used to this. Trisha says he will recover fully in a couple of days. I don’t know if it’s a good thing? She frowned glancing at Maan. They had decided to walk to Paras’s clinic because Geet had wanted open air. It wasn’t that far from the Den. As they marched back, Maan was lost somewhere hardly listening to her blabber.

Perhaps, he was worried about Vidhuat and his mate. They hadn’t gotten any lead on her and time was running fast. Geet squirmed a bit, as she concentrated more on him and a part of his emotions touched her. Although painful, it was cool how she could feel what he did to an extent. Hesitantly, she stroked her hand against his, being casual and making it seem like an accident. When he didn’t withdraw or react, she discreetly slipped her fingers between his. Surprisingly, his fingers tightened into hers and Geet wondered if it was silent message, a promise that he wasn’t going to leave her hand ever.

This morning Robe told me there is a fall in the jungles, will you take me there? I would like to see it. She asked shyly.

Maan stopped and turned to her. In him something cracked as he looked into her trusting eyes and newly discovered innocent whiteness there. He pulled the pieces together, putting a tape on the crack. He was going to lie to her just like Paras. Mates didn’t lie but he would break the rule. He would lie. He brushed the hairs off her rosy cheeks and pulled her hand-entwined in his-to his lips, brushing the soft skin with a tenderness that he was never before capable of. Yes, my sugar, I will take you there.

Somewhere else in Jungles

I see you have taken a liking to the Protector’s little mate.

Sheen clutched the article to herself as the sinister voice rolled over her. With shaking hands she tried to hide the plate into her body. There was a time when she had believed that her mate had somewhere deep down inside him shreds of goodness, however now as he gripped her arms, breathing in her hairs all she could feel was evil- cold and black.

Umm, feeding the enemy. Droh whispered in her ear, removing the plate from her death grip. Sheen couldn’t help but wince as he tossed it away, the leftover that she had collected for Chhavi now scattered on the gravelly ground.

I am sorry. She said closing her eyes as he turned her around.

Oh, why? You don’t have to be sorry, my love. In fact, I am really thankful that you are taking good care of my guest. Come here.He hugged her and she clutched him tightly, for a moment pretending that he was nice, that he was the same male she had known initially and not this scarred soul that didn’t possess a heart that beat. For a moment, she pretended that he loved and cared for her.

He raised her face to meet his mouth. Hungry strokes of his lips were something she was too familiar with. With her hand she cupped the burnt part of his face; she always did this to show him that his ugliness didn’t bother her. It was the inner malice and burns that she was more worried about. He pushed her against the cold, murky wall. The jagged surface didn’t pain her; her mind wandered to the feeling of his hands that dipped under her jeans and his mouth that fervently kissed her jaw. Only if her love was enough to resurrect him, although, life was too cruel for such ease. Her breath hitched as he inserted a finger into her and demanded her to kiss his chest. She ripped open the shirt and tasted his skin.

Noise from behind broke her attention.

This is important. Droh drawled taking his hand out of panties n into his mouth.

Took you so much time to let us enjoy. One of the Weres said.

A while ago it would have more than disturbed Sheen to have reckless males in the same room that permeated with the smell of her sex but now she was used to this vulgar nakedness. After what all she had seen nothing embarrassed or surprised her anymore. Shifting behind her mate she corrected herself taking in a breath to calm the rattled nerves down.

Sheen here has been taking care of Protector’s mate. There were collective laughs and scowls. I am sure the female must be feeling at home now. It’s time to send another message. The nasty sneers on the Were’s grubby faces intensified, eyes sparkling like smoldering coals. Sheen gulped, her voice dying in throat.

Feed from her and do whatever you want, just keep the little mate of Vidhuat alive. We wouldn’t want to lose such precious little thing.

Heart in mouth, Sheen felt wobbly. Gaining her composure back she formed words in a shrill voice. You can’t do that to her.

Sheen… Droh tsked, shaking his head. You know we are running short of female in the pack. The guys need someone to take the edge off.

She could just stare at him disgusted, her heart beating like a drum, the thump telling her that time was flowing. Oh god, they were out of sight. Already gone. If she… if she went after them. She had to do something. But Droh grabbed her arm painfully twisting it.

Now where in the fucking hell are you going? The path we have chosen would be gory, I told you, didn’t I? He growled on her face.

She is an imbecile. I thought there was some goodness left inside of you.

It died long time ago. Do you not remember what they did to me? He freed her hand with a snap, snarling viciously. That female will be nicely taken care of and her screams would reach her beloved mate. If I were you I would attempt coming in between a female and hungry Weres. They won’t hesitate in ripping you to shards. There is only little that I can do to protect you. With the warning, he strolled to the door. When he turned back to her, his face was devoid of any emotion that would make him something lesser than an animal. You kill the mood.

The door closed. It wasn’t locked but she was. Faints cries had already started to resonate making their way in all directions, loudening with each passing second. Slipping to the ground, Sheen closed her ears just like Chavvi had done earlier. Perhaps, if she didn’t hear, it would make her little less of a sinner.
