Part 2

Geet walked down the pavement towards her building, her heels creating annoying sound every time she put a foot forward.

Though she had got a ride home, she asked the driver to drop her a few yards away from her building, not every day a expensive car rode down their street. Talking about the street... she noticed how her surrounding completely changed from when she had entered the car n when she came out.

While stepping into the pricey vehicle she was outside the vast bungalow which was located in the posh area of the city n now walking to her house she saw an old dingy lane with dumps everywhere n small houses crumpling the sides. This was another face of Delhi, the face was more real, more persistent.

The sun blazed its hot rays from the centre of the clear blue sky making beads of sweat role down her temple. She kept her hand on forehead to shield the eyes but to no avail. Strangely the sun reminded her of the person she had met the night before. He was as intimidating n undaunted. She shivered at the memory of his eyes; there was something in the depths of those black orbs that saw beyond everything.

She had fumed at him for paying her when she didn’t do anything in fact he was the one who had helped her not that she wanted to go with him. Nevertheless, he gave her place to spend the night ‘beside him’ of course but that was no issue she’d had worse n thinking about that... he was not bad looking if truth be told he was fucking god.

Instead of agreeing n keeping the money back, he made sure she took it saying even if they didn’t do anything n she didn’t served him in anyway; still she was there in the house for whole night on his insistence.

True there, Geet kept the money wanting to leave fast n not indulge in long argument, she needed the money anyway as her last customer was a lunatic. Men... deriving pleasure in the weirdest of ways, thank god she escaped.

There were not too many people around on the road at the moment n she knew why; a fool like her would be walking on the road in the summer noon when the temperature was around 35 degrees but a small child on the other side of road smiled at her n then blushed. She knew him; he was what seemed like to be 5. She found him here time and again n every time he passed her a cute smile. She wondered if he was some woman’s kid who worked in the area, children from good families didn’t roam in this vicinity

Finally Geet reached the 3 story building; it was in bad condition like its residents... there was even a mountain of garbage on the right side, how appropriate. She sighed n went inside, their security guard was in the hall sitting leisurely as he watched a comedy show on small television.

She smiled faintly when he looked up. As expected he didn’t responded n resumed what he was previously doing. The fellow was never friendly rather a recluse, he was working since she came to the place or from even before but still she didn’t knew his name. His lone identity was his large frame n long hair always tied in low ponytail n his position as their boss, Mr. C’s right hand here.

Walking to the stairs she came across a few girls n while the friendly ones greeted or waved at her, the jealous ones gave mean looks to which she just shrugged, not her fault if she was their boss’s favourite.

The wooden staircase creaked as she climbed to the top, there were some cracks n at a few places the plaster hanging on the walls n roof apart from that the building was not a very bad place to live in, she knew it from personal experience.

Geet stopped before the room adjoined to hers. The door was left ajar n she peeked inside.

I see you are packing for somewhere. Geet asked flopping on the bed.

Yes, I am leaving. The lady in her 40s answered.

Leaving? Where are you going Naina?

I think you have some problem there. Naina said poking her finger into Geet’s temple. I had told earlier Muskan that I am going back to my city.

To your city? Geet’s face reflected genuine surprise, when previously Naina had told her about her leaving she thought it was a joke. For how many days?

Muskan, have you vowed to talk with question marks only.

Oh! I am sorry. Now tell me.

Naina rolled her eyes. My dear Muskan, I am going back to my city not for some days but forever though I promise to be back to see you all.

You mean you are leaving all this n going back. Naina nodded.

But how... I mean what will you do there? Geet asked incredulous.

Naina sighed. At my age there is not much I could do here. I have enough money saved with me n I also talked to a friend; she would help me set some small shop.

That’s good. Geet said though felt bad. She knew Naina since the time she came into this new world n when she had felt like an alien in the unknown n scary surrounding, Naina had taught her the business n also supported her almost like a mother.

She would miss her, Geet decided. No one would believe but prostitutes like her also had feelings. For a moment she imagined herself, working at a flower shop or bakery, nah! The idea was absurd; she was stuck till her last breath, no such luck in her kitty.

Muskan... Muskan...

Huh? Geet came out of her thoughts listening to her name, it was not actually her real name but everyone here knew her as Muskan. When a girl becomes a whore she had to leave everything behind including her identity.

What were you thinking?

Nothing. Geet replied absentmindedly.

Okay. Now enough about me... tell me how your night was. Naina asked with a raised brow though soon concern taking control of her features. The man who took you with him didn’t seem so nice. I had bad vibes from him.

Geet also did n whores always followed their instinct that was their only way to evaluate danger. Then again no one who comes to a whore to seek pleasure is nice. So last night she ignored her instincts, it told her the man was bad news still she went with him n got herself in sheer danger but she was short on money so took the chance regretting it later.
The man was out of his mind inspite being rich-cause he took her to a five star hotel- was complete mental patient, going to chain her n do god know what. Thank god she escaped; no thank Maan Singh Khurana instead.

She saw Naina waiting for an answer. He was a madman but I ran away before he could do anything. Geet assured.

I knew it. Naina chided. You should be more careful. By the way where were you for the rest of the night then?

I uh... got another customer.

Oh! So how does it go with him? Naina probed further.

Fine, just a quick get-in-get-out. Geet lied she wouldn’t tell that they just slept together in its very literal meaning n didn’t had sex... it would ruin her reputation.

That’s good.

Hmm... You talked to Mr. C then about your departure? Geet changed the topic immediately.

Yes. It was not like I was bringing much business. He said I could go.

You are lucky Naina. Geet said with a sincere smile.

I know... Naina agreed patting Geet's shoulder. I know.

Geet sat on her bed, her very own. It was not the best not the worst either n it was hers with no company as for now so she chose to take advantage n sleep some more. Then she remembered the money, the business tycoon had given her.

Instantly grabbing her small clutch she flipped it open taking out the money n started counting. 25, one thousand bills rested in her hand. Her mouth hung wide, the man gave her twenty five thousand rupees for one night that too for doing nothing. He must be bigger psycho than that chain guy.
