BEAUTIFULLY FLAWED

PART 48

Geet was sitting on the edge of a plush couch, glancing at the clock repetitively as time stretched- piercing seconds turning into minutes, minutes into hours. The stupid staff of Imperial Hotel wouldn’t give her access to Maan’s room or even tell her his room number explaining that if he’d been expecting someone he would have informed them. She tried to convey the point that he indeed wasn’t expecting her and she was surprising him but to no favorable results. She asked at reception if she could use the phone and tried to contact Maan but couldn’t get through. Left with no other choice but to wait, she sat in the lobby trying to be patient.

Hours later, Maan entered with security personnel and few other people. Her frantic heart automatically eased with his sight. She stared at him in all his commanding glory, giving instructions to one of his employees. Hours of wait, anxiety and fatigue were forgotten as she took a step forward.

When Maan’s eyes ultimately halted at her, it was with confusion, then shock. He blinked thinking he was imagining everything, it wasn’t new for him to see her everywhere. Although, his eyes wandered to the luggage beside n he knew she was there. There, before him in flesh and bone. For a moment, he stood stock-still then as Geet-his love, his wife-increased her pace, he opened his arms for her. It wasn’t deliberate. It was completely instinctual, to offer her the place where she belonged. The world faded into nothingness around them. Geet crashed into him, the force of her, her presence nearly knocked him on his back. After that there remained just peace. He heard the sound of her breath, felt it against his neck and the rapid beat of her heart against his chest. She pulled back and Maan cupped her face, smacked his lips onto hers. In the middle of Hotel foyer, under the gazes of around fifty honorable people and employees, he kissed her hard and good.

Damn, you are here for real. He said while kissing.

Knowing Maan for never being the one to shy, it was Geet who had to break their very public display of affection.

I came for you. She told.

How… he seemed incapable of forming sentences. Why… A whirlpool of emotions swam in his orbs as he looked down at her. I will see you guys later. He told his security and staff n held her hand. He picked her bag next and pulled her with him. Geet had planned to mock the haughty receptionist when Maan arrived, deeming a wink or sticking out of her tongue out perfect for the job but now her mind was just filled with Maan. His cologne enveloped her and his touch on her wrist put her skin on fire.

When they reached his suite on the top floor, Maan put her bag down. He further pulled her into the bedroom. His hold on her wasn’t harsh or compelling, it was gentle. She could stop if she wanted to but she didn’t. She let him guide her. Niks helped me with the formalities-

Maan was shrugging off his coat, his ears not registering her words. Fucking now, talks later. I am Geet-deficient, I need my dose.

Why did you leave me like that then? She hit his chest n he let her do it.

Maybe a sick part of me wanted to know if you would follow me.

If I hadn’t?

That’s the misery of love, Geet, I would still love you. It’s not something I can stop.

But you said you hate me. That hurt me, very badly. She confessed-complained-a hot tears rolling down her cheek. He licked it away.

I didn’t mean it, love. I don’t- I can’t hate you. He helped her out her baggy top n jeans then he removed his shirt n belt, unbuttoning his pants and sliding down the zipper. She lay back on the bed as he backed her then covered her with his body. It was all so natural, their actions in perfect sync, their bodies knowing what they craved. Why you never listen to me? I said no talking. He bit her lower lip and she winced. Maan suckled on the lip to ease the sting and she relaxed under his familiar weight, blood pulsing fiercely in her veins. Open your legs for me. And she did. Before he entered her with a sudden thrust, burying all his length inside her, in a tender, absolutely contradictory moment he kissed her forehead.

The night had fallen when Geet woke up. How long they had made love and then slept? She detached herself from the tangled mess of sheets and limbs and kissed Maan on the shoulder, getting off the bed. Wrapping a sheet around her naked body, she drew open the curtains to reveal floor to ceiling windows. Moonlight and illumination from the many skyscrapers filtered into the room. Her husband was a vision on bed, lying on his stomach, his toned, powerful back exposed, the sheets not covering much. His magnificence outshined the beauty of the cozy bedroom which she was noticing just now.

Opening the glass door, she walked out into the balcony feeling the night air on her arms and neck making her shiver. She was astounded to see how high they were in the sky, almost untouchable. Tokyo’s skyline glittered with neon lights, the roads down were bustling with moving cars and people the size of ants.

She felt warmth in and around herself when two strong arms went around her. She sighed, smiling. Just this morning she was so tormented, and now she was on top of the world, practically. The presence of a single person can make so many changes. You came so far away, to an unknown country, just because I said I was missing you? Maan asked again just because it brought his selfish self so much satisfaction to know she would go to such heights to be with him.

She turned her face around, pulled his head down for a kiss. Despite whatever Maan thought, she would do anything for him, and still couldn’t not repay for how much he gave her when she deserved absolutely nothing. His unadulterated, pure love was what had brought her every inch to life. But she didn’t how to pour all of that out in words. The intensity of her own feelings-that scared her so much-was impossible to convey.

She stared at nothing and sighed, feeling the steady rise and fall of Maan’s chest at her back, giving her strength. I have kept everything inside for so long, I had somewhere begun to believe it was not true, just a bad nightmare that I had watched years ago.

Maan stood in silence trying to make sense of her words. He didn’t interrupt her because how she sagged against him gave him the feeling that she was in need of support and this was something important.

It was my third year of college, I was eighteen that time. I was home during my spring break. My father owned a small textile business, we weren’t one of the richest but we had money. My sister was newly promoted, she was a software engineer. My mother was in search of a good guy for her but my sister had other plans, she liked this really nice guy in her office who was her very good friend. Those were the happy days, the normal days. At end of my of my vacation they all wanted to see me off to the college. We were on the highway, when our car met with an accident. Last thing I remembered was my sister pushing me out of the door and the car crashing into a tree before my eyes n then catching fire.
